Ditching the Dye!
![]()
Revolt! Dump! Change! Amazing what began as a bold but straightforward hair change and what other transformations occurred.
In the past year to 18 months: I have written and (in publishing process) my first book (The UnFinished Book) Traveled to Europe Crazy 4000-mile road trip with my youngest brother in 6 days Became empty nester's Exercised consistently Celebrated 33rd anniversary Being an original, you have power. Where does that strength come? Value Self! One of the fears of GOING GREY was the struggle against feeling or falling into "frumpy." Keeping "natural" natural and not unkempt or backwoods. The truth, I have received more compliments about my hair "Going Grey." So, here is a hooray, you can do it. Free yourself from a box of dye or chemicals in color. But spend it on you still, Your worth it!
I'm a little more than nervous here. I have been blonde since a wee tyke. And helping that blonde via a box for about 12 years. Yes, I know all the right reasons to ditch the dye. Anytime we can be organic both inside and out that is a win-win path to take. That, however, is not the focus of what is stirring inside of me. Nope, not going earth muffin either, I love some flash, bling and up do. Transformation; I'm finding myself working out what is going inside of me in the spiritual. Scared! Absolutely. I love my highlights. I will be lighter toned being grey than my ash blonde every was. My older brothers are both sporting grey which gives me a bit of reality to behold.
So I thought I would invite you on the journey. Join me and my friend,
Shelly Mitchell, Professional Hairstylist, what you thought I would do this by myself? Heck no! Change needs lots of hands to encourage it becoming a solid framework. Shelly gives a short hands-on description of our objective over the course of the year.
Weaving and Foils what a hoot.
Yup, I look like a spiritual transmitter that is for sure.
Proof is in the pudding now. Time to wash it out and see what we got!
TRANSFORMATION; Dictionary.com defines it like this;
the act or process of transforming. the state of being transformed, change in form, appearance, nature, or character.
The word of God has much to say on transformation, but here is a favorite: Romans 12:2 (NIV)
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Like cutting a couple of inches off your hair, getting rid of those straggly over processed ends. The reality is they did appear; their is evidence of some trauma along the way. Snip Snip.
I have had my New Year's conversation with the Father. He has set a high bar for me this year. I was thinking one project; He mentioned that three were possible! I'm not proving or testing what the will of God is for my life, God told me. That is what relationship is about, a conversation with transparent council & agreement. Doesn't do any good to disagree with God, the disagreement usually comes with the wrestle of self. His thoughts and desires about us are far beyond our day to day course.
Transformation comes by believing what He says about you and the plans He has for you. Then a plan of action, doing them. a. Writing it down. b. ask questions; I heard you say this God? C. plan a strategy d. Ask for the favour, grace and blessing to walk it out
Making small changes that I can see and feel have always helped me stay the course. Every time I start to feel a but "sluggish", or in a rut, God increases encouragement, He knows me, how I function and what motivates me.
Feeling well put together on the inside and outside gives me a natural burst of "CAN DO"!
My husband always appreciates the benefits!
Remember my first video this morning? I was a bit nervous, as you can see I pressed into the "I'M WORTH IT MODE." (box dye is an affordable blessing but sometimes ladies we need to allow God to pamper and bless us) amen. Going Grey
Well, my roots do not show, Shelly sure knows what she is doing, I gave you her Facebook link, She weaved in 2 colors, in only half of my hair, to ease the GREY roots/demarcation line over the next few months.
Besides, have you noticed that GREY is a bit fashionable these days? The up side, I feel better, wow I do believe I look a tad younger, my husband hasn't seen me yet, and yes, God knew how to encourage me towards change. There is some hard work ahead, already submitted to Him some painful issues I shouldn't have been holding onto. All I can say is I'm so glad I obeyed; He gives very unique gifts? Ha Ha Ha. TRANSFORMATION =GOING GREY
Your comments are most appreciated! If your interested in those projects the Lord has set me on, I'll share a hint, I'm writing a book. Want to come on the journey with me? Help unpack the chapters? Nope not asking you to edit, I have editors, To join the "Watchmaker" encouragement team here!

I love the sun. Love the glow of summer highlights in my blonde, now graying hair. A real L.A. girl at least by birth. In a market of mass reviews I thought I would give my opinion on Self Tanner of choice. Reasonable, doesn't yellow or orange. Won't stain your clothes or pocket book. The only question I hear is that I must lay out in the sun. Nope. I cheat with Tanwise creamy tanning lotion.
Shh! It's our secret. Last spring Don and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and traveled to Hawaii to visit Joseph who was stationed there. My only prep so I didn't look like a completely "white" skinned tourist was two weeks before, every third day, after shaving legs and shower I'd lotion up with Tanwise self tanner. Transforming my glare to, OK, I'll wear shorts. As with all self tanners remember to wash your hands well after application. Otherwise, that's my opinion. Real People Real Reviews
Super, love to try new products, support a young Mom who rocks and is loving her family with creativity and commitment. Its a win win purchase.
The most beautiful people are those who have known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an understanding of life that fills them with compassion. Beautiful people do not just happen.

Our Relationship With Younique ProductsThe Younique Foundation is profoundly grateful for the relationship we have with Younique Products. Younique Products, LLC was founded by Derek Maxfield and Melanie Huscroft. One of the original purposes of founding the cosmetics company was to fund the Foundation. Younique Products mission is to Uplift, Empower, and Validate women everywhere – including sexual abuse survivors specifically. The generous support of Younique Products and their Presenters is tremendously valuable and it is impossible to calculate the amazing impact of their support.
Although the Younique Products company is deeply committed to supporting The Younique Foundation, it is important to note that the Foundation was not established to support the company or sell cosmetics. Inevitably the two will be linked, but the Foundation is 100% focused on helping abuse survivors and is not distracted by the need to promote Younique Products. |
