A Wambach family favorite, Easy and quick to make. Happy Baking
1 cup butter or 1/2 and 1/2 margarine
1 1/2 cup white sugar
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, add eggs mix thoroughly
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
add to creamed mixture and blend well.
With a small cookie scoop, place on ungreased cookie sheet, press lightly twice, each time dipped with flat bottom glass into sugar/cinnamon mixture. This cookie spreads, I arrange them 3x4 on the cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes. Cool one minute and then place onto cooling rack. A delicious heritage cookie.
History of the snicker doodle cookie: The Joy of Cooking claims that snickerdoodles are probably German in origin, and that the name is a corruption of the German word Schneckennudel ("snail noodles"), a Palatine variety of schnecken.
Preheat oven 375 degrees
4 1/2 Dozen
in a small bowl mix, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon
Original recipes call for 1 hour in the refrigerator, rolling into a small ball, rolling in cinnamon and sugar mixture, press with glass.
I do not always have the time for these extra steps; the taste is the same with a let less sugar. For a special occasion if would roll them. Happy Baking
